to jeg or not to jeg? that is the question {and a winner!}

inspired by a twitter conversation yesterday, i must ask.
are you brave enough for "the jeggings?"
i know, i was terrified at first.
true story: a year ago a much younger, cooler friend of mine told me i should really try out skinny jeans. i laughed at her and asked if she'd seen my mid-section lately. i was certain i would look like a rolled sausage in skinny jeans. but i decided to at least try them out, and i was completely surprised by the result!

a year later (and no, i have not lost 20 lbs since then) i own more skinnies than anything else!

but... jeggings?

i mean, let's get real here. the name? well, it's a little revolting.
brings to mind "skort" of the 90's. or "ligers".
can any good come from hybridized words?

and really? conan o'brien didn't do jeggings any favors

sorry if i've ruined your appetite for the day. had to be done.

even april tried to convince me at the queen bee market that jeggings were amazing.
i wasn't buying it.
over christmas, my anthropologie shopping, always-looks-amazing sister in law was wearing super cute skinnies. when i asked her where they were from, she told me anthro (no suprise). but then she said "i love jeggings! they're so comfy!" and i was shocked.

jeggings?

well, you all know what happened. i blew my entire gift card that hubs gave me for christmas on a pair jeggings because when i tried them on, they were magic.

like yoga pants, but somehow completely fashionable!
it's a miracle!

aaaand... the spendy ones were perfect because they have a higher rise to cover my not-a-baby- bump. who could ask for anything more?!? (p.s. you can find a great pair at target too, so no worries!)

someday i may look back on this trend and ask "what was i thinking?!?" but for now... comfy pants!!

what say you?
are you a *jegger?
making my "so they're a little tight" face
i am.

*term "jegger" totally made up by me. feel free to spread it like wildfire. it's all kinds of awesome.

don't forget about the winner of the funky vintage kitchen giveaway!
drumrolll....

#34!

congrats sarah! and thank you to fellow jegger, april!

Haha you're so adorable. I'm a convert too! I have a cheapish pair from Old Navy and I wear them 3+ times weekly. Perfect with boots.

i can't even tell those are jeggings, they look like skinny jeans! i so skinnies, but have not attempted jeggings. but seeing yours, i'm thinking they're not all as bad as i was making them out to be. it's the kind conan is wearing that are horrifying.. i'm wondering how he was even able to get those on!!

So not brave enough...not even for skinny jeans. But they look so cute (well, except on Coco...)...maybe once I'm back into pre-baby shape, I'll give them a try.

Not only am I a 'jegger' but I'm a pear too!! Who knew a pear shaped girl could wear skinnies and jeggings. Trust me, you can! Just pair them with a boyfriend cardigan and you are set.

You look great Jessica! Actually amazing. And, congrats Sarah B. on the win.

I am a total Jegger as of Christmas time. My mom actually bought me a pair, I know my mom right?!, and told me I had to at least try them because she thought I'd be cute in them. Well, I fell in love and now own 4 pairs!! I was shocked that they are actually comfortable! You look great in yours!

p.s. my hubby surprised me with a rosette bracelet for Christmas and had you right "I love you Pea Tree" on the tag! do you remember?! I love it!

I think the best way to do jeggings are the thicker pairs that look and feel like suuuper stretchy jeans. That way, they don't look like Conans, but are still nice and stretchy and comfy!

where did you get yours. maybe you've talked me into it.

Haha! Love it! You look adorable! I don't think I'm brave enough quite yet...

lol i am definitely a "jegger" - i love how you have more options to wear with them than leggings, and they look super cute with boots! I totally went with the $14.99 Target pair (just in case I had a change of heart & hated them). {love}

You are too stinkin' cute. I own several pair of skinny jeans (and love them), but have yet to venture into jeggings territory. My husband works for a sock / hosiery manufacturer, and one of his vendors gave him about four pair of jeggings to give to me. They are sitting in a drawer. I've been too scared to try them on because I'm still carrying around about 15 pounds of baby weight. The baby will be two in March.

i <3 jeggers. and you look dang good in them, girlfriend!!

i'm totally a "jegger" too [love the new word!] i've even braved a no boot look with them- just flats! they're too comfy to wear anything else, and since my husband likes them, i wear them all the time! i'm like you though, i've only recently jumped onto the band-wagon... kohl's has some for like $25 [not technically "jeggings" because they have a real zipper, but they're super comfy].

PS you look great in them! love the yellow and gray, or course :)

You totally crack me up, Jess! I have never tried jeggings. They seem intimidating, but you look ubercute in yours! :)

p.s. I felt the urge to write "uber"cute and thought, "did I just come up with that on my own or is it actually a word?..." So I hop on over to merriamwebster.com to look it up and it actually means "being a superlative example of its kind or class; to an extreme or excessive degree" which I thought fit perfectly since you are extremely cute in your jeggings! So now I think its my favorite word, and I will use it all the time! ;)

Wow! I am about a year behind you... I just bought my first pair of skinny jeans a month ago from Target (because $15 is no commitment). And now, you can't get them off me. Not because they are that tight... because I love them! Jeggings are still scary to me. Maybe in another year...

I was so anti-jeggings, but after reading all the twitter-talk this weekend I bought a pair today, talk about peer pressure! (Old Navy for $6!!) I'm eating my I'll-never-wear-jegging words already because I LOVE them and want another pair!!

Congrats, Sarah!
I am not brave enough for jeggings, but love my skinny jeans :) You go, girl!

Sarah-Anne said...

okay, so here's my jeans saga.
i was that girl. you know, the little girl who wore her pants two inches too short because she couldn't find a pair that fit both in the waist AND the length. i used to wear only flares, then i discovered old navy skinny jeans and i was a covert. i have such skinny bean pole legs that i don't quite know if i want the world to see just how skinny i am, but i'm considering becoming a jegger. i need some confidenence, though... ;)
Sarah-Anne
p.s. mama, you're one hot jegger. so they're a little tight face and all.

WOW...they look good on you! :) I haven't ever seen them ON someone. I haven't even tried skinny jeans yet, so I'm not sure I'd try them. But you look super cute in them :)

Heather @ Glitter and Gloss said...
